Client Systems Administrator

Provide on-site tier2 systems support. Responsible for the uninterrupted correct operation of high-performance software systems at client sites.

    • Responsibilities

      • Install, configure, test, upgrade, and monitor software systems.

      • Diagnose and repair system problems locally and remotely.

      • Provide off-hours tier2 response to system-generated alarms when on-call. Assist tier1 support to identify and remediate cause of alarm, and work with tier3 support to address any underlying system problems.

      • Periodically review system logs to identify unreported problems.

      • Maintain system trouble ticket log.

      • Maintain system downtime and defect log.

      • Document tier1 system standard operating procedures (SOPs).

      • Ensure correctness of own work via automated testing.

      • Continuous process improvement.

    • Additional Responsibilities

      • Prepare quarterly systems stability report to identify material limitations of operational client systems.

      • Improve monitoring of system health and usage.

  • Requirements

      • Detail-oriented, careful, meticulous, team player, mission-focused.

      • Expert in Unix command line including gawk/grep/find.

      • Write correct Unix shell scripts under time pressure (ksh/bash).

      • Thorough understanding of the Internet protocol suite.

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

      • Available to participate in 24/7/365 tier2 on-call rotation. Off-hours calls typically resolved in 10 minutes on the phone about twice a month.

      • Current TS/SCI clearance with full scope polygraph and extended background investigation.

    • Preferences

      • Experience with POWERWASH or EXIT4.

      • Familiar with monitoring software (hpov, nagios, …)

      • Red Hat certification (RHCSA/RHCE)

    • Compensation

      • Salary commensurate with education and experience.
